Brawl Stars Counters

Countering is more than picking a Brawler with a favorable one-on-one matchup. Range, map geometry, team roles and the rest of the draft matter too. Use these matchup guides as context, not as an automatic pick.

Class matchups are the baseline

Assassins delete squishy long-range damage dealers. Sharpshooters punish slow tanks on open maps. Tanks eat assassins alive when they can close distance. Throwers dominate walled maps but fall apart in the open. Controllers and supports swing fights that are otherwise even.

The kit decides the matchup

Two Brawlers of the same class do not counter the same targets. A stun gadget lets you commit onto a Brawler with no escape; a reload star power wins a poke war; a wall-breaking Super removes the cover a thrower depends on.

Counters still lose on the wrong map

A theoretical counter that cannot reach its target does nothing. Check the map page and the current tier list before you commit a pick purely to counter one enemy.
